Not taking the time to take care of our children is the problem of the modern family

There are some people who take immense pride in being in the workforce. We live in an environment where we are considered diligent if we work outside the home, while women who take care of children at home are considered lazy and living a comfortable life. Because of these social stereotypes, many of us would rather jump into the workforce and put our children in the care of others.

A lot of people think all they have to do for their children is to stay at home with them for a while. However, they rarely take care of their children even when they¡¯re at home, because they¡¯re too busy spending time enjoying random videos or television dramas. Merely staying at home won¡¯t cut it; we have to spend our time wisely for our children. Working at home, in fact, is much more difficult than working outside the home. It¡¯s physically demanding and time-consuming. We often have to fight the clock to get things done, but no matter how hard we try, we rarely see tangible results, and others fail to recognize our invisible efforts. People who stay at home but only do what they feel like doing at the moment cannot realistically find the time to take care of and teach their children.

There are also many parents who don¡¯t have time for their kids because their priorities are in the wrong place. People allocate their time according to what they hold as most important. Supposing many people place their priorities on things other than child care and education, they will certainly lack the time to spend time with their kids and teach them. Some even say they don¡¯t have time to teach their children because they are busy with church work. Others say they don¡¯t have time to teach their children because they¡¯re too tired after attending the early morning service, or they have to do the homework they have assigned from their Bible study group. Their priorities are in the wrong place. The fact that we choose not to make time, when in fact, we have time, is a common problem of family life today.
